Traditional Portraits; Oil on Canvas
The portraits shown so far are drawings in charcoal, pastels and chalk. I am also a classically trained portrait painter.
Nothing compares to a traditional portrait painted in oil on canvas, using traditional methods and materials. I do this too!
It is a very different process and takes far more time which has a bearing on the price.
Depicted is a portrait of Jessica in her favourite summer dress, painted in oils on an 18" x 24" canvas panel.
The process requires two 40-minute sittings and a 30-minute photoshoot. Oil paintings of this complexity take 8 to 10 weeks, but the wait is worth it.
Such portraits become family heirlooms treasured for generations to come.
